Chairman of Directors

Welcome message from the Governing Body

Welcome to Hadrian Academy and to our new Principal -Miss Hannah Bennett.

I personally have been involved with Hadrian for many years and along with our other Governors know that we have built up a strong, vibrant, school that recognises the needs of every child that becomes part of the caring Hadrian family. Indeed, so many of our present or past parents have been pupils at Hadrian and love to visit us on those occasions when we celebrate our many successes at school.

We encourage all children to work to their highest capabilities, whilst recognising that some of these need extra support within a school ethos which has a safe, caring environment.

Safeguarding and the Prevent Strategy are at the top of our agenda. Every member of the Governing Body and Staff, both teaching and support staff, is fully trained recognise and respond, should it be necessary to protect your child.

Ongoing Curriculum Development is across every aspect of learning, either in the classroom, playground or in whole school events such as the choir and school assemblies. You can look at our school website to see all the many and varied activities which take place at Hadrian on a daily basis.

Our professional teaching and non-teaching support staff work together to provide an excellent standard of education for all our pupils.

We were rated “Good” at our last OFSTED inspection. We know that when the inspectors came and visit us again, our expectations are high for another excellent report.

The Governing Body is composed of fifteen people, including parents, staff, and representatives of Education, Business and the wider community. All our Governors serve a four year term, on a rotation basis, which can be renewed for a further four year term.

As Trustees of the Academy we are accountable for the overall performance of our Academy, though the day to day management is led by the Principal. We work with her to see that the overall aims and ethos of the Academy are met. Our responsibilities include appointing the Principal and senior staff, overseeing the school’s finances, curriculum, premises and all personnel matters. We monitor to ensure the curriculum is balanced, whilst setting targets for pupil attainments. Pupil Premium is provided to ensure all children requiring additional help receive that help in all aspects of the curriculum and outside school activities and clubs.

As Chairman of the Governors, I am very happy to meet with you to discuss any aspects of Hadrian Academy. I can be contacted through the Clerk to the Governing Body, Joanna Loisel, at the school, or by email at amr58@btinternet.com.

Hadrian Academy is a highly successful and motivated school, set in a lovely, rich environment in Dunstable, achieving excellent results year on year.

Yours sincerely

Angela Roberts, Chairman of Hadrian Academy

Hadrian Academy is delighted to be judged overall as a good school.  Click here to view our latest Ofsted report.

Hadrian Academy is a wonderful, lively and caring primary school, for children aged between 4 and 11 years old.  We are located in east Dunstable, Bedfordshire.  Annually we admit 45 pupils into the reception class.  Choosing a school for your child is one of the most important decisions parents have to make. We hope that this website will help you to make that choice.

Our vision is to have a school of excellence building further on our identified strengths and caring ethos, where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential.
