Pupil Premium/Free School Meals
At Hadrian Academy we are committed to raising the attainment of disadvantaged young people. Our aim is to make sure that all children leave us ready for the next stage of their education. Some children receive additional funding to make sure that they are able to access a high quality education.
What is Pupil Premium?
The government currently allocates additional funding to schools called Pupil Premium (PP) if a student is in receipt of Free School Meals (FSM) or has received FSM in the past six years. There are also other students who meet the funding criteria such as:-
- those looked after by the local authority (LAC)
- are adopted
- leave care under a special guardianship order or a residence order
- have parents that are currently serving in the armed forces
The process of claiming FSM has been simplified and just takes a telephone call to the Central Bedfordshire Council Customer Services helpdesk on 0300 300 8306. Further details are also available on the Central Bedfordshire website.

Our Pupil Premium Funding information outlines how we use our pupil premium grant to ensure all children have the best start to their education. Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium funding as they see fit. The school plans how to spend the allocated funding each year, to maximise the progress and attainment for these pupils. The impact of these interventions are analysed at the end of each academic year in order to adapt the plan for the future.
