Welcome to the wonderful world of Year 1 at Hadrian Academy.

Welcome to Key Stage 1!

We are excited to begin this new chapter in your child's learning journey. Your teachers this year will be Mrs Norris and Mrs Auker, who will be teaching Macaw Class, and Mrs Green, who will be teaching Koala Class.

As we make the smooth transition from Foundation Stage to Key Stage 1, we understand you may have questions—and we welcome them! The best time to catch us for a quick chat is usually after school.

We are also fortunate to have a wonderful team of teaching assistants supporting the children across both classes: Mrs Harris, Ms Hurley, Mrs Marshall, Mrs Newstead and Mrs Orioye

We’re looking forward to a fun and successful year ahead!

P.E.

Your child has P.E. lessons every Wednesday.  Please ensure your child comes to school wearing their P.E. kit.  This will include their house t-shirt, jumper, navy tracksuit bottoms, royal blue shorts and black trainers.

Communication

We welcome any questions you have and the best time to catch us is usually after school.  Please check your ParentMail account regularly for letters, reminders and upcoming events.  Communication is also made via ClassDojo.

Curriculum

We have lots of exciting learning planned for the year!  Please follow this link to find out more details of the exciting topics and curriculum covered in year 1.

Lunchtime

Due to the government initiative all children in year 1 are entitled to universal free school meals.  However, you still need to preorder your child’s meal via your ParentPay account.  You may also choose to have a packed lunch any day of the week.  Lunchtime is from 12noon to 1.00pm.

Spellings

Each week in year 1 grammar lessons will include a number of spellings.  For your information a list of all spellings that your child will learn over the Autumn Term is to follow.
